Goodall Hospital Announces First Baby of the Year Born in Sanford
GoodallHospitalis pleased to introduce the first baby of 2012 born inSanford,Maine. Ryleigh Chase Easley arrived at 1:25 pm on Sunday, January 1, weighing in at 6 pounds, 4 ounces and measuring 20 inches. Ryleigh’s mom, Danyel Easley, lives inSanford. Her grandparents, Roger Easley and Robin Lacasse, both reside inNorth Berwick.
“I never expected to have the first baby of the New Year for the hospital, Ryleigh wasn’t due until January 9,” said Danyel. “But I sure am happy to meet her!”
As one of the first of Maine’s babies born in 2012, Ryleigh will be one of the first 2012 babies eligible to receive the $500 Harold Alfond College Challenge grant (Alfond Grant) to start a NextGen College Investing Plan® (NextGen®) account. The Alfond Scholarship Foundation set up the grant program to help ensure access to higher education for allMaine’s children. AllMaine resident babies may receive the grant if they are enrolled in NextGen on or before their first birthday. There is no family income limit or requirement to contribute any of the family’s own money to receive the grant.
Prior to leaving the hospital, Ryleigh’s mom will be provided with information about the Harold Alfond College Challenge and how to open a NextGen account. NextGen and the Harold Alfond College Challenge are administered by the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME).
