Look At Us Grow

Goodall Hospital has been expanding its medical staff!

In response to our community’s needs, we have been working to expand our medical staff and provide the highest quality care possible and ensure that patients can be seen in the shortest possible timeframe.

One of our most recent additions is in Waterboro.  Dr. Craig Wallingford and his staff will be joining the Goodall family in the Goodall Professional Park as of June 4.  “Dr. Wallingford has been a family medicine physician in Waterboro for over 25 years, and we are so pleased to welcome him, his staff, and all of his patients to our extended family at that location.” said Adam Shlager, Vice President of Physician Services at Goodall.

Another area of expansion Goodall Hospital has been working on is our hospitalist system.  A Hospitalist is a trained provider whose “office” is the hospital and they specialize in caring for patients admitted to the hospital for acute inpatient care. A hospitalist is well-versed in complicated and/or serious health conditions. Hospitalists will talk to your primary care provider on a frequent basis throughout your stay.

Dr. Brian Kaufman has joined Goodall Hospital to provide full-time hospitalist services for our inpatients.  Dr. Kaufman has been working with Goodall for a number of years already, and this transition allows him to focus on his passion for hospital-based medicine, working with hospital staff to continuously improve care systems that will benefit our patients throughout their stay and after their discharge.  Dr. Kaufman is also a driving force in assisting the hospital with development and implementation of our Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) initiative, which will improve patient safety and greatly assist with transitions of care.

Dr. Jon Older has teamed up with Goodall Hospital as well to provide coverage for our inpatients.  Dr. Older joins us from Houlton, Maine, where he has provided services for some time at Houlton Regional Hospital.  Dr. Older is a trained Internal Medicine physician who specializes in Hospital medicine.  Dr. Older has a wealth of experience as a hospitalist and the inpatient team is more solid than ever with this addition.

Also joining Goodall Hospital’s inpatient service is Jennifer Gordon, NP.  Jennifer joins us with many years of critical care nursing experience, and having recently graduated with her Nurse Practitioner advanced degree.  Jennifer is a dynamic young provider who has already demonstrated her ability to connect with patients and ourGoodall Hospitals taff and other providers.

In addition we will soon have a new full-time emergency department physician joining us.  Scott Hamilton, DO graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and will soon be completing his residency at LehighValley Hospital where he also performed his internship before he begins at Goodall.

Dr. David Rowden, after many years of service to theSanfordcommunity as an independent physician, has decided to partner with Goodall Hospital and join the growing group of providers that will be practicing out of the new Goodall Health Partners Sanford Internal Medicine practice, located in what is currently the Maine Doctor’s Office.  This means Dr. Rowden’s patients will be able to continue receiving the same excellent care from Dr. Rowden and his staff as they have for years now.

Most of the community is aware of the imminent departure of Dr. Mukesh Bhargava and Dr. Anuja Sharma.  While we know it is not possible to truly replace these two fantastic providers, we are hard at work finding the right physicians to take over care of those patients who choose to remain with the practice.  We are particularly aware of the close relationships these two physicians built with their patients and want to make sure we bear that in mind as we move forward with our recruiting efforts.

To that end we have secured a commitment from Dr. David Vogel to provide care on an interim basis for Dr. Bhargava’s and Dr. Sharma’s practice patients. Dr. Vogel graduated from Georgetown University of Medicine, served in the military, and has practiced across theUnited States, most recently in Oklahoma.  Dr. Vogel is triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonology, and Critical Care.  We are very happy to have him join us, and believe he will be a great benefit to the community.

Lauryn LeGacy, NP, will also be joining the Sanford Internal Medicine practice in the former Maine Doctor’s Office location in the Medical Office Building.  Lauryn comes to us from North Berwick, where she has recently finished her Advanced Practice degree, and is looking forward to working with the patients of the practice to provide for their health needs.  Lauryn has a background in Critical Care nursing, and is well versed in providing care of complex health issues.  She has been a joy to work with already, and we are very glad to have her join our family.

Patsy Aprile, President and CEO of Goodall Hospital states, “We will continue to work to provide a family of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants that best serve our community’s and patient’s needs with the highest possible quality healthcare.”

If you have any questions regarding the changes taking place within the Goodall Hospital Family of Services please feel free to call the President’s Office at 207.490.7322.
