History
Thanks to the Goodall family, life in the Sanford, Maine region was good in the late 1920s. It was a rare household in town that did not have at least one member working for the Goodall family in their Sanford Mills or at the Goodall Worsted Company, producing mohair plush and Palm Beach cloth.
George B. Goodall began construction of this community hospital in memory of his wife, Henrietta. The hospital was still under construction when he died in 1927 and the Goodalls' daughter, Marion (Goodall) Marland, carried the project through to completion in 1928.
Since its opening, the people of the Greater Sanford/Springvale region have depended on Goodall Hospital for compassionate, family-centered care. We are proud to continue the caring tradition today, while keeping pace with the dramatic changes occurring in health care.
Recent expansion includes a new 25,000 square foot Medical Office Building next to the Hospital and a renovation/expansion of the Emergency Department. Major investments in technology include York County’s first Digital Mammography; PACS Digital Picture Archiving System for Radiology; Electronic Medical Records, and the Pyxis Electronic Prescription Delivery System.
In 2007 Goodall Hospital opened the Goodall Professional Park in Waterboro. This large, modern facility includes Goodall Express – the area’s newest Walk-In Care Center – a Laboratory, X-Ray, and medical offices.
In 2008, Goodall Hospital and The Medical Group announced their partnership and the opening of the new Goodall Health Center in Kennebunk.
