PHC Quarterly Newsletter

Mission: To mobilize local organizational representatives and interested community members to promote and improve the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.


One of three Healthy Maine Partnerships in York County supported by the Fund for Healthy Maine, Partners for Healthier Communities (PHC) works with area businesses, organizations and interested community members to promote health and wellness through policy and environmental change.  Emphasis is placed on the importance of tobacco cessation, proper nutrition, exercise, chronic disease prevention and management, and substance abuse prevention.  Free educational resources and support are available for those interested in making a healthy lifestyle change.

Worksite Stars of York County is a proactive wellness program targeted at helping your employees remain healthy and to keep them as productive members of your team.

Alcohol and Your Teen

A resource guide containing information on the number of Maine teens who participate in underage drinking; dangerous effects of alcohol use on teen's health; and tips on how to talk with your teen about alcohol use. Call 207.490.7704, ext. 311 to receive a guide.

FreshStart: A Quit Smoking Program

A straightforward four-part series centered on helping individuals quit smoking. Participants will be given resources and the support needed to assist them in their efforts to kick the habit.  This is a free American Cancer Society program facilitated by Tobacco Control Specialst Denise Frechette and typically meets at Goodall Hospital from 6:30 - 8:00 pm.  For upcoming sessions or more information please call 207.490.7704, ext. 311.

Goodall Healthy Weight Initiative

The Goodall Healthy Weight Initiative is comprised of area organizations, physicians, businesses, and interested community members who are passionate about improving the health of the community through increased physical activity and improved nutrition.  Volunteers are needed to bring the efforts of the group to the next level. 

We need YOUR help with:

  • Incorporating healthy messages on signs throughout the community

  • Coordinating cooking classes

  • Developing physical activity challenges for families

  • Creating a buddy system for those looking for an exercise partner
